Foreign Driver’s License Conversion
A foreign driver’s license may be converted if it meets the following conditions:
- The issuing country is a signatory to the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic, or
- The license was issued in a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA).
With a qualifying license, driving is permitted for one year from the start of continuous residence. After that, the license must be converted.

If the license does not meet the above conditions, it can be exchanged for a Hungarian license by completing a driver’s examination.
